Apple Cake with Streusel
Apple cake with streusel(grandma’s recipe out of an old Austrian cookbook)
you need for 1 baking sheet: (approx. 19inch x 14 inch)
3 cups flour
1 Tblsp. Fleischmann Yeast
3 Tblsp. sugar
1/8 l milk (light warm)
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 egg
dash salt
1 kg apples or plums
streusel:
½ cup flour
½ cup sugar
cinnamon
oats flakes
sliced almonds (optional)
1/3 cup butter or margarine
Put flour in a bowl, make a little dell, put sugar and yeast in and a few drops of lemon juice and add a little of light warm milk, stir with somewhat flour and let stand under a tea towel for at least 15 minutes.
Put butter or margarine in milk and let melt. Now put egg, salt and melted butter and milk to the sponge and knead alt together. Let dough rise for at least 30 minutes.
In the meantime peel apples and cut in slices or prepare plums
When dough is ready, roll out on greased baking sheet. Put the apples/plums close together on dough.
Preheat oven on convection oven on 370
Mix soft butter or margarine with all ingredients for streusel together and grind to streusel. Put streusel and almond slices over apples.
Bake about 30 minutes.
